Maggi Hambling: A Suffolk Eye

Join internationally acclaimed Suffolk artist Maggi Hambling for a very special event on Father’s Day as she discusses the visionary paintings of her late father and fellow Suffolk artist Harry Hambling, which form the basis of her latest book: A Suffolk Eye co-written with historian and biographer Jamie Gilham, with contributions from George Melly and Andrew Lambirth.
Having lived in Suffolk all his life, once Father began to paint its impossibly glowing skies, rampant rape fields, bare winter trees peopling the land: all these are made manifest with absolute authority in his work. Our jaded eyes are jolted into action by the purity of his vision. Maggi Hambling, CBE
This is a partnership event between River Stour Festival, Essex Book Festival and The Quay Theatre.
